[This web site is best viewed in Internet
Explorer.] WelcomeIt is with a profound sense of joy that we announce the establishment of the new leadership training school in South Texas, The Academy of Biblical Instruction. The Academy has long been a work in preparation, but thanks be to God it is now a work in progress. We are currently in full operation. All interested individuals are encouraged to apply immediately for the 2008-2009 school session.
We are certain of the knowledge, the understanding, and the wisdom of God vested in His Word. Thus, the opportunity awaits every desirous and diligent individual who seeks to develop his or her mental and spiritual faculties at ABI. The Lord’s desire is for His disciples to “be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that [we] might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God” (Colossians 1.9-10). We are confident of the biblical exposition that shall be offered at the Academy, thereupon our curriculum is not based, nor developed after; but truly is, the pure and unaltered Word of Truth.
Give due consideration to the school catalogue and you will find emphasis upon the cultivation of Christian character, and the development of godly leadership, in the spirit of humility. Our purpose at the Academy is not to foster a spirit of competition in the brotherhood, rather it is to instruct men in all wisdom, that we might present every man perfect in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1.28). In a final word, the goal of the Academy is not simply to secure salvation, but to train men to maintain a consistent level of righteousness, that we might be found worthy to dwell in the presence of Almighty God! God is true! Adams Street church of Christ
The church of Christ opened its door for the first time in Beeville, Texas in
the year 1914. What started as a small group of six faithful members, later
became a congregation which relocated twice due to growth.
The history of the
Adams Street church of Christ
is one which demonstrates her zeal for evangelism With the establishment of the Academy of Biblical Instruction we hope to begin a new chapter in the history of the Adams Street church of Christ. The Academy of Biblical Instruction is a work of the Adams Street church of Christ, and will be overseen by her faithful eldership. In this 21st century, the elders of Adams Street have envisioned a revolution of reclamation for the local congregation, and for the Lord’s church the world over. Our goal is to train competent and capable leaders—evangelists, deacons, elders, preachers, teachers—that will labor in the kingdom of God organizing properly, training extensively, and motivating thoroughly. ABI will equip leaders with the biblical plan of church growth that they may pattern their works after the ancient examples of righteousness. God be with us, and may we be pleasing in His sight! Educational Philosophy of ABIAt the Academy of Biblical Instruction our educational philosophy will center upon the knowledge, the understanding, and the wisdom of God. The ancient inspired philosopher declared, “If thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; if thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2.1-6). The procurement of these faculties shall be achieved through the symphonizing of a complete teaching (Matthew 28.19-20) and a powerful practice (1 Timothy 4.7b) of the Word of God.
The educational philosophy of the Academy is rooted in the commitment to the cultivation of Christian character (2 Peter 1.5-8). For the underlying quality of every Christian, that which matters the most, is his character. Thus, character development is the true aim of education at ABI. The Academy will focus on two significant areas which will cause an individual to become an ideal Christian, viz., his teaching (*4*"Fi"8\") and his training ((L:<V.T). In “teaching” the Academy will provide a premium study of the education and meditation of the Word of God, with emphasis upon thoroughness of tuition. In “training” the Academy will provide a premium study in the application of the Word of God, with emphasis upon precision of practicality. None of this shall be accomplished apart from the attainment, development, and maintenance of the spirit of servitude (Matthew 23.11). The end of our educational philosophy is to cultivate champions of truth who shall lead the next generation to victory!
